I like wearing dark or mirrored sunglasses when i sketch people.
If I don't have sunglasses I just move my eyes up and down without moving my head. Head movement attracts attention.
If I'm at a busy place I like to have a wall behind my back so no one can look over my shoulders as I sketch.
the longer it takes to draw someone the more that person will notice. So I try to practice quick gestures as often as I can to build up my drawing speed.
